Looking at Opening Mechanisms

I am having some trouble in realising the hinge that will allow the top of my USB casing to open wide enough for it successfully be inserted into the USB port.

Having thought about different ways to create the mechanism I realised that I was trying to achieve something similar to the opening mechanism of a Zippo lighter...

As you can see in the image above, the cap of the lighter when unhinged lies in perfect line with the body of the lighter, this is the effect I will have to achieve with my USB design in order for it to function.

This image above shows a close up of the design mechanism. Which is known as the "interference-free cam for hinged lighters". The Zippo brand is famed for its build quality and has patents protecting its innovative mechanisms...

The Zippo brand uses this guarantee of build quality within its advertising and POS. (I am required to produce a POS stand for my USB so it is useful to investigate this aspect too)
Brands such as BOSCH have used Zippo lighters for their marketing, just as they may use branded USBs too.

I also looked at the mechanism of a car key to help me grasp the concept of my opening mechanism on the USB stick .
I was having difficulty with the lid of my USB stick getting in the way of the USB port, looking at this car key has helped me realise that an inlay could be the solution!
