I have based my POS stand on a film reel as this is iconic of the media industry. I have used laser engraving acrylic to produce my logo, the laser cutter etches through the white, revealing the black beneath.
Unfortunately the dichloromethane which I used to glue the pieces together leaked through and melted the acrylic. I wasn't happy about this so I decided to start again. This also gave me a chance to rework my design slightly.
Corel Draw Design
This is my new Corel Draw design of my display stand. I have made some changes from my first attempt...
- I have etched a 1mm deep inlay in the top rectangle for my logo which is etched on laser etching acrylic to sit in.
- I have added a picture which will be etched of the woman with headphones - I added this as I wanted to show that NUMU is a music company.
- I have made the whole stand taller (by adding one extra rectangle) so that my display will have more presence in store and the logo will stand proud of the USB.
The Laser Cut Piece from my Corel Draw Design
My stand took a long time on the laser cutter (about 3 hours) due to the amount of etching I required. Here you can see my laser cut design with the hole for my USB to sit in. I placed my stand on the strip heater to line bend it into a 3D form.
