Intial Drawings...

I have decided to produce a casing for my USB that resembles a clapper board to emphasise my music company.

I have drawn the following images using letraset pens to show how I may assemble the cicruit and the casing. Click on the images to enlarge.

Drawing 1:

The top drawing here shows the design with a removable lid. The problem with this is that the lid could become lost so i have looked at designing a hinged lid which also adheres to the clapper board design.

The lower drawing shows how my USB circuit can be fitted into a recess. The lid fits into the recess of the body which I will further work to design a hinge mechanism.

Drawing 2:

This is an exploded view of my design concept. The casing is split into 3 sections. The middle section has a recess to house the USB circuit. The lid of this section will hold the USB chasis. I will develop this concept now using Creo Pro.
I could manufacture my casing in 3 layers as above, but this would only involve laser cutting, although a CAD/CAM process, I am already comfortable with this method and wish to use this project to get to grips with Creo Pro and the rapid prototype machine. I will use this concept to build a 3D form.

Drawing 3:
This is a basic drawing to show how the pin of the central lid section would sit within the body casing. I will obviously round the hinge pin and recess to allow for movement but I can develop this through modelling and Creo Pro.
